The Social Dance Alliance is an emergent network of communities using partner dance to foster belonging, preserve cultural heritage, and amplify joy. Founded in Austin, Texas, the Alliance is expanding to Seattle, Miami, Houston, and Washington, D.C., linking vibrant local scenes into one connected movement.
We keep the floor open to everyone. Our work centers immigrant, Black, queer, and mixed-ability dancers, offering free and low-cost entry points, multilingual materials, and practices that meet people where they are. From ASL interpretation to sensory-friendly spaces, from veteran programs to family-friendly socials, access is not an afterthought. It is our design.
Each dance we practice is a living cultural archive. Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, Lindy Hop, Blues, Zouk, Lambada, Kizomba, and Two-Step all carry stories of survival, creativity, and connection. By bringing these forms together, the Alliance amplifies their histories and ensures they continue to grow across generations and borders.
We believe dance is not just performance. It is culture in motion. It is how communities remember, remake, and share themselves. The Social Dance Alliance exists to preserve that heritage, amplify it, and keep it open to all.
